And there already a handful of high rises south of the river now. That redevelopment has shown several renderings with a handful of towers. Then there is the Statesman newspaper site just south of downtown across the river.

Then there is the 3443/Austin Viie office park in East Austin that WWMI mentioned that could have three 400 footers, plus two 200 footers and a handful of other low highrises. And there's at least one office building planned that could be a few feet shy of 400 feet there. There's also a 300 foot office tower under construction up there. So far, the Domain in North Central Austin is turning into our 2nd downtown with a handful of 200 foot buildings built and under construction. There are taller buildings planned farther out than that.
The tallest so far is The Dorsey condo tower, but it's only 170 feet. There are a few already, but nothing that I would really call a skyscraper. Short answer: there already are, there are current proposals, and there will be more. Visually speaking, it’ll be a cohesive skyline with two nodes. It isn’t as if this is detached from our existing urban core. We already have VMU development built, in progress, or proposed all the way out to this development, too. This is half the distance from downtown as the Domain and IBM with basically the same development premise and is now also on a commuter rail line. The details aren’t exactly nailed down what will end up happening here, as the proposals keep changing, but something will happen here. In fact, the city did just that the other day with the old Motorola campus off of 183 just a stones throw from a potential Green Line station with heights on one parcel up to 400’ and 120’ elsewhere. Now that we have passed Project Connect, the Green Line commuter rail will be a key component in upzoning areas east of 35.
There are some legit skyscrapers east of 35 already, like RBJ and that new one at MLK. Do you folks think any scrapers will get built East of I-35 ?
